Stanley’s Camp

Stanley’s Camp is situated in a 260 000 acre concession on the southern tip of Chiefs Island on the southern borders of the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana.  Stanley’s is accessible by light aircraft and the camp has its own airstrip.

The eight classic safari tents have been built on raised wooden decks, encircled by large ebony and sausage trees. The tents are furnished with handcrafted beds, crisp cotton linen, antique furniture and oriental rugs; evoking the feeling of early 19th century Africa.  Each of the luxury tents have private decks with comfortable chairs and hammocks – inviting you to relax in the warm African sunshine and take in the panoramic views over the surrounding floodplains. The main lounge, dining and bar area has been built around a giant sausage tree and is tastefully decorated with artefacts, including some fascinating black and white photographs of the area.

The concession is home to a variety of big game including buffalo, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, hippo, lion, leopard and wild dog.  The birdlife is good with plenty of water birds and raptors. You will enjoy a variety of activities like day and night game drives; bush walking with an armed guide, hot air ballooning, mekoro excursions or just cooling off in the camps swimming pool.  One of the highlights of your stay is the option of going on a walking safari with semi-habituated elephants. You will be given the rare opportunity to observe these fascinating creatures in their natural environment, marvelling at their large ears, long muscular trunks, sympathetic eyes and huge padded feet.
