Kigelia Camp

Kigelia Camp is a small intimate camp situated in the high density game area of the Ruaha National Park on the banks of the Ifugura Sand River in the south western region of Tanzania.  Although the Ruaha National Park is Tanzania’s second largest National Park, it remains fairly inaccessible making it one of the world’s true wilderness areas.

Kigelia Camp is ideal for those looking for an authentic safari experience.  The camp has been built with due consideration to the environment and is set amongst a grove of kigelia trees (sausage trees), high on the banks to take advantage of the views over the beautiful views over the Ifuguru Sand River.

Each of the six luxury tents has a private veranda with marvellous views over the river. The tents are comfortably furnished with rustic wooden furniture, finished with cool neutral cottons and traditional handmade African fabrics.  Water, which is sourced from the river or bore hole, is carried to the tent by hand and lighting is generated from solar power.

The sitting room and outdoor dining area offer expansive views over the river and for some quiet reading time you can relax in the well stocked library.  After an adventure filled day enjoy a spectacular African sunset and a wonderful meal after which you can sit around the camp fire and look up in wonder at the constellations shining brightly in the clear night sky.
