Location
Magashi Camp is situated in an exclusive use concession in the game-rich north-eastern section of the park, overlooking Lake Rwanyakazinga. It has been designed, constructed and developed by Wilderness Safaris, in partnership with the park authorities, to offer the highest standard of safari experience in this pristine location, in keeping with the ethos of the rest of their portfolio across Africa.
Accommodation
The camp has just six huge tents, elevated on wooden decks with an outside seating area and connected to the main lodge with elevated walkways.
Each tent can be configured with two queen-sized beds or one king-sized bed, and has a sizeable en-suite bathroom with shower, vanity unit and complimentary amenities.

There is 24-hour electricity courtesy of solar-power and back-up generators and each tent has a fan for hotter days.
The main lodge comprises a luxurious lounge, dining and bar area on raised decking with expansive views. The architecture and interiors of all tents and areas pay homage to traditional Rwandan culture.
There is a convivial fire pit and swimming pool, again overlooking the lake.

Experiences
Daily activities centre around exciting game drives with expert guides in dedicated open vehicles and boating on the lake in one of their eight-seater swamp cruisers. Guided walks are also possible in certain areas while catch-and-release fishing can be enjoyed all year round.

Community
Magashi’s parent company, Wilderness, exists to protect, explore and expand the world’s wilderness. One of the many ways they do that is through education. They do this through Eco-Clubs, school curriculum and infrastructure improvements, literacy centres and other environmental education initiatives.
Conservation
The camp made history when it partnered with the Rwanda Development Board and African Parks. Since its opening in 2019, two guides have become the first-ever Rwandans to receive a coveted FGASA qualification. Today, Akagera National Park’s rebirth is an extraordinary conservation success story.
