At Africa Exclusive we know the best properties to cater to the needs of a young family. Many of these have two bedroom luxury accommodation with every comfort and convenience. Yet they are in genuinely remote and private locations. The food is excellent and special diets are catered for. The staff are family friendly. There are pools and things to do between safaris. For younger families, safaris are mainly by specially equipped safari vehicles. You will usually have your own private vehicle and guide for maximum flexibility. This way you can move easily and safely seeking the animals, enjoying the beautiful landscapes with a fully stocked cool box in the back. Your expert guide can also take you on fascinating short walks and on boat safaris. Often you can meet local people and visit a village or school. A safari is highly educational and great fun. Most of Africa has good weather from July through to Christmas and southern Africa also enjoys good weather during Easter. It is easy to find many animals and the scenery is amazing – the Masai Mara, Rift Valley, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater are a few of the highlights. For a malaria free safari, South Africa is an excellent choice. You can easily combine it with Victoria Falls or Cape Town. See the family safari ideas below, or better still, call us now!
A safari holiday gives your family a wonderful chance to meet local tribal people and experience their culture. This is especially true in Tanzania and in Kenya where colourful maasai and samburu tribes live.
There is plenty of good, easy to take medication which protects you against malaria. However if you want to consider a family safari in a malaria free area we can easily arrange one. Malaria free safaris are available only in South Africa in areas such as Madikwe and the Garden Route.
With children, you’re often tied to travel at Christmas, Easter or in the summer. Call us to discuss which locations are best for the kind of safari you’re seeking at the time of year you wish to travel. We’ll take into account the weather patterns, the main animal migrations and best beach options to create the perfect family safari.
The Kalahari is a fascinating place for a family safari. The children can sit by a meerkat den watching these curious little creatures foraging and playing as one stands guard on its hind legs looking out for eagles. They can watch enthralled as a San Bushman reveals hidden secrets that have enabled them to survive here for thousands of years.
KwaZulu Natal is in eastern South Africa. It’s the home of the Zulus; it has a fabulous wild coastline, high mountains, lots of animals and rich culture. It’s safe and easy to drive around in a hire car and there are loads to see and do. So it’s ideal for a family holiday with a difference.
Botswana is one of the best places for a family holiday of a lifetime! There are millions of animals across plains, deserts and deltas. You fly in a small plane to small luxury camps with superb family accommodation. There’s so much to see and do and every day is new and exciting. Victoria Falls is close by and there are direct flights down to Cape Town.
Your family can enjoy terrific big herd safaris amidst amazing scenery in Northern Tanzania. See the 10 mile wide Ngorongoro Crater, the endless Serengeti plains, the Great Rift Valley and snow-capped Kilimanjaro. You have your own private safari guide and special safari vehicle so you can focus on what interests you the most. You stay at small upscale camps in beautiful remote locations.
We arranged for Melanie and Mark to take their three young children on a safari holiday of a lifetime at Easter. They flew between three superb safari lodges and finished with four days at a luxury beach lodge by the coast. The whole family loved every minute.

There is a world of difference between one of our tailormade safaris and most package holidays printed in a brochure. Package holidays are usually designed to be as cheap as possible and of course involve large numbers of people doing the same thing. Our safaris use small, more exclusive and remote camps usually with guests flying in, and often virtually everything is included in the price. The experience is completely different.
Many of these small lodges and camps have broadly similar prices, and it is possible to arrange a superb two week safari for between £4,000 to £7,000 per person ($7,000 – $11,000) season dependant, all inclusive. Realistically it is difficult to reduce that figure, and by including Botswana in peak season, chartering a private plane, disappearing to some magical desert island, or flying at the front of the plane it’s easy to substantially increase that figure!
