Older Families

An African safari is the ultimate teenage family holiday.  Shared adventure, wild beauty, delicious meals in luxurious remote camps.  The thrill of landing in a small plane on a grass strip beside the Zambezi River.  That wonderful sense of waking, miles from anywhere to the sounds and aromas of Africa and an exciting new day.  Spies in a strange land, exploring rivers, savannah and hills, the domain of lion, buffalo and mighty elephant.

Any African country is suitable for a great family safari.  For a more adventurous family you might like Zambia where you can canoe down the Zambezi past elephants, track animals on foot across the Luangwa valley.  Your senses alert, knowing that you are on the same level as the animals as twigs crack under your feet and your watchful guide leads you a little closer to a couple of adolescent bull elephants nonchalantly tearing branches off a tree.

The options are almost endless, so call us and tell us about your family and we will design the perfect itinerary for you.  If you’re adventurous and love walking, explore Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park from Chamilandu Camp which overlooks a sweeping bend of the river.  The Zambezi River can also offer you canoeing, boating from Chiawa or Sausage Tree Camp, and near Victoria Falls white water rafting and micro lighting over the mile wide falls.  Other places for active adventures include Lukula Private Reserve or Sand Rivers Lodge in the Selous, Tanzania, or your family can come face to face with a family of mountain gorillas in Rwanda.

We sometimes arrange for a family to set off across the surreal Namibian deserts in search of rare desert elephants and rhinoceros, sand boarding on the Skeleton Coast and quad biking across the dunes.  Or if you like the ultimate in luxury safari stay at Vumbura Plains in Botswana’s Okavango Delta or the opulent Singita Boulders Lodge on the Sabi Sands of South Africa where each magnificent suite comes complete with a private pool and even a set of watercolour paints in case you feel inspired to art.

If you’d like to like to round off your family safari with a beach break, Africa Exclusive can arrange anything from a five star resort hotel on Mauritius to a week as a pampered Robinson Crusoe surrounded by fabulous coral reefs on a tiny island like Vamizi off the coast of Mozambique.
