Lagoon Camp

Lagoon Camp is situated to the north of the private Kwando Reserve in the remote and untouched area Linyanti in Botswana. The camp sits on the banks of the Kwando River and is surrounded by thick riverine forest.

The camp has a relaxed, quiet presence and is the perfect setting for the serious safari enthusiast. The camp overlooks wild floodplains which are regularly frequented by large numbers of game.

Lagoon Camp accommodates a maximum of 16 guests in luxury safari tents which have been furnished in traditional safari style. Each tent has en-suite facilities with hot and cold running water and wonderful views over the meandering river. The camp has a plunge pool, lounge, bar and dining room that overlooks an elephant drinking hole. Delicious meals are served in the dining area overlooking the river.

The emphasis at Lagoon Camp is on the game viewing. Seasonally, large herds of elephant feed from the Marula trees and drink at the river under the watchful gaze of the resident hippos. Large herds of buffalo attract many predators including lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena. Wild dog have denned at the camp since 1997 – the year the camp was established and staying at Lagoon Camp gives you the rare opportunity to see these endangered species as they hunt for their next meal. The resident lions are known for their spectacular buffalo kills and have been spotted hunting elephant and hippo – which is very unusual.

Game viewing is by open vehicle, both day and night or on the water by boat. If you enjoy fishing you will have the opportunity to fish for bream and tigerfish.

Camp guides have recently found the remains of bushman settlements with pottery shards that date back several thousand years. Seasonal walking safaris allow you to explore this fascinating habit.
