Savuti Camp

This spectacular, authentic safari camp is situated in an isolated part of the Linyanti concession along the Savute Channel in Northern Botswana, far from the crowds. The camp is renowned for its dense elephant populations and is one of the most unspoilt safari experiences in Botswana.

In the 1980’s the Savute Channel was inhabited by hundreds of hippopotamus and numerous species of aquatic life which dried up due to shifts in the Linyati Fault system. The channel is now open grassland inhabited by a dynamic ecosystem of plains game and the predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog which hunt them.

Savuti Camp offers guests the ultimate safari experience with nine luxury rooms which are shaded by mango steen, ebony and fig trees. The camps are on raised platforms offering guests expansive views over the Delta floodplains as well as the occasional night of shelter for roaming buffalo. The rooms and the lounge, bar and thatched dining room and plunge pool are all raised on wooden teak decks where you can spend your afternoons relaxing in comfortable chairs, cooling off in the plunge pool or enjoying sundowners on the extended viewing decks. The camp has been built by locally sourced materials and is interestingly decorated with traditional Botswana basketwork and other local artefacts. At dinner time you will have a sweeping view of the magnificent Channel while enjoying a delicious meal prepared in traditional African pots on the open fire.

There is a large waterhole close to the camp and being the only one for miles it attracts large numbers of animals all year round; including giraffe, buffalo, impala, zebra and warthogs, especially in the winter months. The waterhole also attracts large amounts of birdlife and is a notable location for aardvark and aardwolf; both of which are high up on any wildlife enthusiast ‘must see’ list. Activities at the camp include game drives, superb night drives, game walks and game viewing from the well positioned hides.

A stay at Savuti Camp will leave you pondering with the realisation that this is truly one of the last areas on the planet that is still governed by nature.
