Zarafa Camp

Zarafa Camp is situated on the waters of the Zibadianja Lagoon, and surrounded by a diversity of animal habitat. Jackal berry and red ivory dotted savannah and dry woodland laced with waterways draw a myriad of animals seeking life-giving water. The combined beauty of landscape and game makes for a safari that will never be forgotten.

If you crave privacy and the feel of a classic African safari, Zarafa Camp is for you. Boasting four large, luxurious 'marquis style' tents, the camp hosts a maximum of eight guests. This allows for a personalised, private experience for visitors. Enjoy a large bedroom, an en-suite, copper-tubbed bathroom and both indoor & outdoor showers. Wander outside to the deck to relax under shady trees and take in the breathtaking view of the Zibidianja Lagoon.

The group area maintains the same 'campaign' style as the tents, and is rich with 20th century ambiance. Lounge and dine beneath canvas, or on the full-length, shaded deck.
Because the Zibadianja Lagoon is a permanent water source in a dry country, animals are never far away. Plains game, including kudu, buffalo, lechwe, zebra and giraffe frequent the area, as do enormous herds of elephants. Interested in predators? Drawn by water and abundant game cheetah, wild dog, lion, and leopard prowl the lagoon. Over 300 species of birds can be seen in the area, filling not only the eyes, but the ears, with an image of Africa that will live on in your memory for a lifetime.

Zarafa Camp offers morning, afternoon and night-time game drives with experienced guides. Night drives include spotlights for the best view of the regions nocturnal residents. Using 8-seater, 4x4 open-sided Land Cruisers, these visual safaris offer the best in sightseeing. Watch for antelope, Burchell’s zebra, southern giraffe, blue wildebeest, elephant and buffalo. Or, for a view of the ‘wilder-side’, keep your eyes open for leopard, wild dog and cheetah or the hippo-killing lions of Selinda.

Whether watching elephants with their fascinating daily ritual of crossing the lagoon in front of camp or leopard cubs interacting with their mother, Zarafa Camp offers an intimacy with the wild not often available to humans.
