Golfing on safari holidays
Whether you are a seasoned semi-pro or enjoy a hack round the local municipal course, playing a round of golf on the delightful courses of South Africa is an experience that anyone can enjoy.
If “golf is a good way to ruin a nice walk”, as Winston Churchill once allegedly remarked, then he obviously didn’t get the chance to play at the exquisite courses at Sun City near Pilanesberg. Perhaps you fancy following in the footsteps of the greats? Then the Gary Player Country Club, designed by the man himself and used annually by the pros in the Nedbank Challenge is the place to head. With beautifully manicured fairways and greens, and the area enjoying excellent weather almost all year-round, you’ll surely improve your game in such perfect surroundings.
If you want to be spoilt for choice, then head for the Western Cape and Cape Town where a number of courses of varying lengths and difficulty levels await you. Try and avoid the water at the challenging Erinvale course in the Winelands, and after your round why not aim for a different kind of liquid with a tour of one the many beautiful vineyards in the area. Admire the picturesque views of Table Mountain from Milnerton Golf Course, host of the South African Open, but watch your driving, as if you manage to hit the waves in the bay from this true links course, your ball might end up travelling all the way to the south pole, and apparently the lie there is a little tricky.
Or how about combining your golf with some animal-spotting? Hippos and Crocodiles populate the waters at Leopard Creek Country Club, south of Kruger National Park, just to ensure you tighten up those long drives! And after a couple of rounds here, you may like to relax in style in one of the luxurious lodges in the nearby Sabi Sands Game Reserve where you can leave the driving to the excellent guides in safari vehicles, and lion and leopard sightings are par for the course.
Whatever your handicap on the course, it’s not a handicap to us at Africa Exclusive, so call us to arrange the holiday of a lifetime for you.
