Zimbabwe Safari

In our view this remains one of the finest countries in Africa for an exciting yet comfortable safari holiday.

Zimbabwe has Africa's best guide training scheme with the result that you can enjoy some amazing safaris on foot, by canoe and by open vehicle with Africa's finest wildlife guides.

Zimbabwe's scenery includes the great open plains of Hwange, where there are over 20,000 elephant and enormous numbers of plains game, the hills and valleys of the Matusadona National Park by Lake Kariba, where you find rhinoceros, lion and antelope, and the World Heritage Site of Mana Pools by the half mile wide Zambezi River is another stunningly beautiful region.

There are many excellent safari camps and lodges, often owner run and each set in a spectacularly beautiful location.

These safari lodges are usually a long way from commercial farming areas and towns. The safari camps are paid by us in foreign currency and the only amounts which go to any government body are national park entrance fees. These safari lodges and camps provide valuable employment for people from local villages and, in many cases, they have taken over the practical management of national park areas including anti-poaching and wildlife management.

Makalolo Camp, for example, is virtually managing the entire southern part of Hwange National Park, maintaining twenty-six pumped waterholes and building relations with the local communities to encourage wildlife management and prevent poaching. This is one of the areas where we are working with our parters to help out local communities.

Why choose Zimbabwe?

For many years Zimbabwe has been people's first choice for an adventurous and comfortable safari. The combination of abundant wildlife, marvellous scenery, amazing guides and luxurious lodges still works. Some people are less inclined to visit Zimbabwe because of the political situation. However, it is a safe place to visit and by doing so you are providing employment in rural areas and supporting safari lodges which are protecting National Parks from poachers. Zimbabwe is at its best between March and November.
