Selinda Canoe Trail

Spend four days exploring the pristine Selinda Spillway by canoe and on foot. This natural waterway in Northern Botswana links the Okavango and Linyanti Deltas. The area is private and remote and filled with wildlife and birds. Up to eight people travel with a guide and support team. Enjoy paddling slowly along the channels watching elephant, giraffe and other wildlife at the water’s edge. Combine this with fascinating walks with your armed guide. There is no set agenda and each night a simple comfortable camp is set up. This is a unique safari that takes you into remote places of great beauty and tranquillity.

The Selinda Canoe Trail operates from May to September and combines easily with other safaris in Botswana and Victoria Falls. Contact us now to find out more about this great adventure.

Selinda Explorers Camp

If the idea of the Selinda Canoe Trail appeals to you, but you’d prefer slightly higher levels of comfort then Selinda Explorers is the perfect choice. In fact, the camp has been created in response to guests asking for just that.

The tranquil camp sits in remote location on the Selinda Spillway, making it a superb base from which to discover all of the wildlife and hidden treasures in the pristine, 32,000 acre Selinda Reserve.

Days at Selinda Explorers are all about being free, wild and at one with nature. Nothing is planned; you’ll take each day as it comes, doing exactly what you want to. You’ll be able to explore the fascinating Selinda Spillway with your own knowledgeable guide in a rugged 4x4 vehicle, on foot or from a canoe. This magical place is home to huge herds of elephant and the Selinda pack of wild dog as well as hundreds of buffalo, hippo, hyena, impala and wildebeest. Birding, too, is great here, with wattled cranes seen regularly.

There are four custom-designed tents, each with their own private open-air bathrooms. Inside the décor harks back to the roots of safari with Persian rugs, brass decanters and campaign-style furniture made from recycled hardwood. There’s a main canvas area where you can relax together and contemplate the day’s activities. More often than not dinner is served al fresco and you’ll dine under the night stars.

The camp’s creators believe humans are a guest in this wild space and so every step has been taken to ensure it is as environmentally friendly as possible. There are solar panels, UV water filters and special waste processes in place which means the area remains fairly untouched.
