Sabuk Lodge

Sabuk is a remote safari lodge situated high up on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in Kenya’s Northern Frontier District. The lodge has magnificent views over the Laikipia plains towards Mount Kenya and northwards toward the Karissia Hills.

The lodge has been built with local stone and olive wood and consists of 6 en-suite rooms and a two bedroomed cottage with a sitting room and a swimming pool. Each of these spacious and cosy rooms is open sided with beautiful views across the valley and river below. Your delicious bush meals, which are of an exceptionally high standard, will be prepared for you by the camps highly experienced safari chefs. Late in the afternoon the campfire is lit and as the evening falls you can gather in the warm glow and share your adventure stories with other likeminded guests.

The region is home to an exceptional variety of wildlife and cultural diversity. It is home to many communities including the Laikipiak Maasai and the Samburu tribes. These indigenous tribes have joined together in partnership with the camp owners to create a conservation and wildlife haven that spans an area of 800,000 hectares. The area surrounding the camp is wild and hilly and is inhabited by more endangered animals than anywhere else in East Africa. Commonly spotted animals include zebra, giraffe, buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion and antelope. The bird watching in this region is superb.

Activities at Sabuk are varied and you will enjoy day and night game drives, fishing, rock and artifacts hunting, bird watching, horse riding and culture and safari walks with Masaai guides. The highlight of your stay at Sabuk Lodge is the guided camel safari trek. Each camel trek is tailormade for all ages and levels of fitness making it ideal for families. On your trek you will have the opportunity to fly camp out in the wilderness for one or several nights.
