Life happens by the water in Samburu. Elephants and Cape buffalo are a regular sight at the river’s edge, as are big cats like lion, leopard and cheetah. An early morning game drive in Samburu is especially enthralling – you can get remarkably close as the animals come to the river for a morning drink.
Black rhino have been successfully reintroduced to Samburu through careful conservation efforts, and there’s nothing like seeing these remarkable creatures in the wild during a bush walk with a ranger at the Sera Community Conservancy. This unique experience is the only walking safari of its kind in east Africa.
