Anjajavy Hotel

Accessible only by private airline, Anjajavy is an isolated fishing village on the North-west coast of Madagascar where you will discover the unparalleled luxury of the Anjajavy Hotel. The private flight to the peninsula is just the start of the amazing experience of visiting Anjajavy, as you fly low over the pristine scenery before landing in paradise. The remote and exceptionally beautiful western coast enjoys practically year-round sunshine, and is dotted with sandy coves and turquoise waters. Tucked away in a 450-hectare reserve, the Anjajavy “peninsula at the end of the world” is a paradise for nature and sea lovers, an exceptionally rich location where the fauna and flora reflect the diversity of the island. The reserve alongside the hotel is home to over 1,800 floral species as well as ‘tsingy’, the famous coral remains that are found throughout the forest. A multitude of species of lemur, reptile and bird are resident in the forest, including the rare Madagascar Fish eagle.

The hotel contributes to local economic development through Ecole du Monde, an NGO which assists the people of the neighbouring villages through education and training, low-interest micro-credits and technical assistance. With the aid of Ecole du Monde, the people of Anjajavy and Ambondro Ampassy have built schools and installed wind-powered water pumps.

The hotel itself consists of a beautiful ensemble of air-conditioned rosewood villas, each with a spacious terrace (with hammock for lounging in), bedroom, living area, breakfast area and bathroom. The private terrace overlooks the breathtaking beaches and beautiful bay, while a first floor relaxation room adds another touch of comfort to an already perfect location. You are so immersed in your surroundings that you can observe wildlife with almost no effort whatsoever.

There is a large swimming pool, while a short distance away there are a variety of activities for the more energetic type – watersports, fishing, boat trips, guided walks, excursions to the local village, mountain biking and more. The excellent restaurant offers international and local cuisine, and many meals can be taken outside on the decking. Perhaps the most unique aspect of the hotel is “The Oasis”, a tranquil and fresh garden immaculately designed by French landscaper Camille Muller, where you can wander amongst aquatic plants, papyrus reeds, palm trees, and a host of humming birds, kingfishers and lemurs.
