Nkwichi Lodge

Nkwichi Lodge is situated on the shoreline of Lake Malawi in Northern Mozambique. The lodge is set in a private reserve of 650 hectares with four kilometres of white sandy beach and rocky shoreline. Nkwichi Lodge is the perfect place to relax after an action packed safari.

Nkwichi Lodge has been designed using rocks and locally sourced materials resulting in an unobtrusive build that blends in with the landscape - barely visible from the shoreline.  Accommodating a maximum of 14 guests, the 7 chalets have been designed to provide comfort and privacy and direct access to the beach. The en-suite chalets are tucked into the trees and have spectacular views over the crystal clear waters of the lake.

The central feature of the bedrooms is the four poster beds which have been carved from old tree trunks and draped with large mosquito nests. Other interesting design quirks include outside showers attached to branches of overhanging trees and large baths which have been moulded into the rocks. The main lodge building has a dining room raised high on a platform providing diners with exquisite views over the lake.

The lodge founders have developed many community projects including demonstration farms, community councils, maternity clinics and schools. As a guest at Nkwichi Lodge you will be encouraged to visit the surrounding villages where you will receive a warm welcome from the community. Other activities at Nkwichi Lodge include kite flying, canoeing, snorkelling amongst a vast array of fresh water fish, guided bush walks, bird watching or just relaxing in a hammock under the shade of a fig tree as the sun sets.
