Family Accommodation

Africa Exclusive arranges amazing family safaris that you and your children will always remember. Getting the accommodation right is vitally important. You will want to be in a genuinely remote location among the wildlife yet with a high level of comfort. And if you have younger children, you’ll all want to be under one roof.

These will exceed your dreams of what is possible out in wildest Africa! These places are uniquely designed with a real sense of style and flair, usually with two bedrooms, each with luxury ensuite bathroom and a living and private dining area with room for a couple more beds. Invariably your family suite will have superb views across miles of virgin bush and often comes with its own private safari guide and open vehicle.

Kiba Point - Tanzania

Kiba Point is a private lodge situated just down river from Sand Rivers main lodge and is an ideal base for an exciting Selous adventure for either a family or group of friends. The lodge can be booked on an exclusive basis for groups of four or more and guests who have booked the lodge on an exclusive basis enjoy the services of their own private guide and chef.

Each of the four huge, airy cottages has an elegant bedroom and lounge area, a beautiful en-suite bathroom and a veranda where you can find your own private plunge pool and sun-bed for chilling out. The main area of the lodge consists of a dining area, a library of books, your own bar, and a large swimming pool and is a good size without being too large for more intimate groups. There are magnificent views across the Rufiji where you can relax and while away the hours and enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the adjacent dining lodge.

Elsa's Private House - Kenya

Elsa’s Kopje sits on a huge rocky outcrop with views in all directions across the Meru National Park. The lodge is so named because it is the site of George and Joy Adamson’s first camp where Elsa and other lions were reared.

One cottage is set slightly apart from the others, providing complete privacy and exclusivity. The Private House consists of one double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with a large bath-tub. There is also a spacious twin room, also with en-suite bathroom. The living area spills into your very own private ‘infinity’ swimming pool which falls neatly into the horizon beyond the Meru plains, providing guests with their very own piece of Kopje paradise.

Cottars Private House - Kenya

Cottars private house is a luxurious two story private lodge especially designed for a large family or a group of friends who are seeking a private safari with top quality intimate accommodation.  The private house can take ten guests in five comfortable bedrooms, each with en-suite luxury bathroom.  The bedrooms have verandas with beautiful views from the hilltop location across the Mara plains.

Downstairs there is a private dining facility and a very spacious lounge with an open fire, books and very comfortable furnishings.  Outside there is a spacious area of decking into which is set a private pool, also with fine views of the surrounding plains.  Cottars private house comes complete with its own private staff, chef and guide and represents the ultimate private Masai Mara safari.

Ants Nest - South Africa

Ant’s Nest is one of the best places in Africa for a family safari, purpose built for families with children ranging from the very young through to teenage years.  It is located in the malaria free Waterberg Game Reserve north of Johannesburg (three hours by road or forty five minutes by private plane) and is surrounded by stunningly beautiful country with hills, forests, areas of open savannah and rivers.

Ant’s Nest is hosted by Ant and Tessa Baber who built the lodge and who create a wonderful sense of friendly hospitality combined with vast experience of conducting safaris for people of all ages in this pristine wilderness environment.  Ant’s Nest can take up to twelve guests, most being accommodated in the main two storey thatched house which has several guest bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities, a large living room and comfortable lounge on the first floor, while outside is a lawned area and a heated fifteen metre swimming pool.  The house is comfortably furnished with hand carved furniture, plenty of big cushions and comfy chairs and log fires for cooler wintery evenings.

Kigelia House - Zambia

Kigelia House is the latest addition at Sausage Tree Camp and comprises two spacious bedrooms both with en suite including bathtubs, twin showers and basins. There is a fully stocked bar and dining table for private meals, whilst outside there is a large infinity pool and a huge open plan living area with leather loungers, day bed and sun deck chairs. Situated on a high bank right next to the Zambezi River with a beautiful teak deck sweeping across the entire front of the suite, Kigelia House offers amazing panoramic views. Ideally suited to small groups (two couples or families) both bedrooms are large enough to occupy a third bed if required.
