Seychelles Fact File

Getting there

You can now fly direct with Air Seychelles from London Heathrow Airport Terminal 4, or London Gatwick.  Flights also run from London with Emirates via Dubai.

Seasons

The Seychelles is near the Equator and the weather is predominantly warm and balmy.  Temperatures are hottest from January to March and this is also when you tend to experience more rainfall, though this usually is in the form of short lived downpours, followed by bright skies.  In Mahe the south westerly trade winds blow causing hotels facing that direction to be prone to windy weather and accumulations of seaweed.

Is the Seychelles for you?

As you read this website and speak to us you become aware that every African country and every beach location has its particular character and attractions.  Seychelles are the most beautiful and romantic of all the islands you can link with Africa.  A few like North Island and Fregate are truly exclusive giving an entire private island to a handful of guests who can enjoy superb facilities cuisine and water sports to rival any in the world.   Otherwise, Seychelles are really for the joy of island hopping, spending three or four days staying on each of a series of strikingly different islands hopping about by ferry, small plane or sailing boat in which case you need to devote at least a week to doing this.   Seychelles is probably not the place to go just for a few days stay at one of the ordinary beach hotels on Mahe or Praslin.   If you are looking for a short beach stay of this kind there are better value quality and more easily accessible alternatives.  Give us a call.

Combining Seychelles

There are two flights a week from Nairobi and one a week from Johannesburg, so reaching Seychelles from Africa requires a little careful planning.  The smaller island hideaways do make good partners to small intimate safari camps.
