The Northolme
The Hilton Northolme Resort & Spa is one of the finest small hotels on the beautiful Seychelles island of Mahe. Originally built in the 20th century but recently completely refurbished to very high standards, the resort retains its old-world charm and privacy, and is only two miles from Beau Vallon Beach which houses attractive little restaurants, water-sport centres and entertainment.
It has forty beautifully designed villas along the ocean front and up the hillside set in one of the most secluded coves. This sense of seclusion attracted many famous visitors to the “old” Northolme – among them Noel Coward and Ian Fleming, after whom one of the suites is named after he was inspired to write the plot for “For Your Eyes Only”.
Each of the villas is designed in traditional Seychellois style with a blend of colonial and contemporary décor with high ceilings and airy verandas. Inside, the villas are decorated in light colours with materials and fabrics from the Far East. Each has a king size four poster bed, a sofa, wardrobe and other furniture and a spacious sunlit bathroom with a deep Jacuzzi bathtub. Rooms also offer air conditioning, mini-bar facilities, cable TV and CD/DVD players. From the room, the bathroom and the private veranda you can enjoy fine views down to the cove and across the Indian Ocean towards the conical Silhouette Island.
The Northolme has two restaurants the open-air Hilltop restaurant which serves the famous Hilton breakfasts and buffet-style dinner, and Le Cocotiers, a superb a-la-carte restaurant specialising in Creole cuisine.
There are two bars the Ocean View bar with open sun deck and the Crows Nest, a multi-function room with tables for pool, tennis, cards, chess and other board games, doubling up as a TV lounge with a 42” plasma screen or library.
Guests can also enjoy the services of a fitness centre, the Duniye spa, the infinity pool, and a water-sports centre (PADI) providing you with opportunities to enjoy water skiing, power sailing, windsurfing, snorkelling and diving.
