Beho Beho

Beho Beho is situated in the cooler highlands of the Selous Game Reserve in Southern Tanzania. Its name means “breeze” and its position captures the cooling winds that sweep through the hills. The camp has unrivalled views over the Selous. Vast, remote and wild the Selous is the largest game reserves in Africa and a dramatic contrast to other parks in Tanzania in almost every way. It’s one of Tanzania’s lesser known destinations but offers a wildlife experience that few other places can equal.

Beho Beho’s stone and thatched cottages have an air of eccentricity about them and are furnished with a mix of comfortable sofas, Persian rugs, four poster beds, unique African carvings and old Colonial pieces. The open sided lounge and dining areas provide a sophisticated yet unpretentious setting for relaxation with expansive views over the baobab strewn bush. A swimming pool offers magnificent views along the Kipalala Valley and there are many areas offering privacy for quiet relaxation in the shade. If you are staying at Beho Beho for four or more nights you can enjoy a “bush night” fly camping experience beside the river, staying in opulent tents. You can also enjoy a visit to the hot sulphur springs of Maji Moto where you can relax in the deep natural pools.

Meals at the camp are a moveable feast and can be taken almost anywhere – in the dining area, on your own private veranda or at one of the many lookout points around the camp. Bush breakfasts and picnics can also be arranged.

The camp is situated on a crossroad of animal migratory routes. Elephants, buffalo, waterbuck and giraffes are known to wonder through the camp. The expertly guided safari activities are either on foot, by open sided vehicle or by boat and are designed to suit your specific interests. The Selous is home to a large variety of wildlife and the Beho Beho River is a magnet for big game especially lion, elephant and hippo.
