Gibbs Farm

Gibbs Farm is an old 1930’s coffee plantation built on the forested slopes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area which is part of the 3,200 square mile reserve. The farm lies half way between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater.

The farm has retained much of its colonial charm. There are extensive coffee fields, a dairy and pig farm and ten acres of organic fruit, vegetable and herb gardens. This oasis of green is a stark contrast to a landscape that can be rather dry and dusty.

The accommodation consists of a series of bungalow rooms and cottages set around the old farmhouse. The rooms are simply yet comfortably furnished, some of which have cosy fireplaces. The surrounding gardens, which are inhabited by 165 species of birds, are immaculate and are particularly impressive in the summer months.

The organic fruit and vegetable gardens provide the ingredients for the delicious meals and a cup of the freshly roasted coffee in the morning is the perfect way to start your day. The farm is the perfect base from which to enjoy the many activities available in the foothills of the wildlife rich Ngorongoro Crater, the Ngorongoro Forest and the Manyara National Park.
