Drawing on our experience

The most obvious way of ensuring that we are sending our clients to the best places for game, season, accommodation, hosting and guides is to go there ourselves.

Africa Exclusive takes care to experience a safari in the same way our clients would. Instead of sending our staff on whistle stop tours of endless camps that eventually fall into a blur by the time they return to the office, we send our staff on experiences which we would like to send our clients on.

Spending two or three days at a time at different camps is the best way to get a real feel for how our clients will enjoy their stay. Occasionally we even find ourselves talking to our clients over dinner in the Masai Mara and it is this sort of direct feedback that helps us to create the best safari experience.

Here you will find a selection of recent our travels throughout Africa. Please take a look and feel free to contact us for advice and assistance with creating your safari holiday.

Donna Robins in Zambia

“This was a wonderful and eye-opening experience which left me feeling totally in touch with the Zambian environment and all it has to offer. The thrill of walking alongside a giraffe or creeping past a heard of buffalo is unforgettable. We even encountered a pride of 20 female lions which of course ran away from us on sight and a small group of senior male buffalos who seemed so relaxed in our presence it was amazing! There is a good variety of walking and camping experiences available in the South Luangwa which are suited to different levels of interest and fitness. But for those wishing to take an ‘introduction’ into walking with game I can assure you this is nothing like the ‘roughing it’ and ‘hiking’ experience I expected, it was relaxing, amazing and inspiring and I can’t wait to do it again”.

Ross Cambray in Zambia

"For a complete African experience, the Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia is hard to beat. I saw four of the Big Five within 24 hours of arriving, and lost count of the number of times I got up close to lions and leopards in my week-long stay. The variety of activities keeps you occupied around the clock; fishing for Tiger fish with hippos wallowing and grunting close by, or canoeing downstream as herds of elephants came to the edge of the water to drink, were experiences I shall never forget".

Ross Cambray In Kenya

"Whichever of the amazing national parks and reserves that you visit in Kenya, you can be sure of a varied and exciting safari experience. The vast plains of the Masai Mara with its huge herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle and accompanying predator populations are of course a particular highlight, but are by no means the only spectacle. The endless and awe inspiring views across Samburu National Park or Laikipia Wilderness; the game rich Lewa and Ol Pejeta Conservancies complete with their ground breaking and hugely beneficial animal conservation projects; the isolation of staying in the Meru National Park, famous for being Joy Adamson's Kenyan home; all of these destinations opened my eyes to the sheer diversity and variety of this wonderfully beautiful country".

Laura Burdett in Namibia

“What strikes me most about Namibia is its diversity, from the spectacular dunes of Sossusvlei to the rocky mountains of Damaraland and the hostile Skeleton Coast each location offers something completely unique. My most memorable day had to be my first, arriving at Serra Cafema Camp on the banks of the Kunene River looking out into neighbouring Angola, this is the most remote location I have visited and without question the most beautiful. Combining magnificent scenery, fascinating desert adapted wildlife and diverse culture, for me the phrase ‘to see is to believe’ has never had more meaning”.

Kelly Wells in Mozambique

“Approaching the lodge we were met by a smiling group of staff with cold flannels and a cool refreshing fruit juice.  At that moment, I removed my shoes and felt the soft white baking powder sand beneath my feet for the first time – heaven!  My first thought after entering the lodge was how blue the sea was, I remember not being able to take my eyes off the sea and miles of white sand in the distance. During my stay I tried my hand at deep sea fishing. It was so much fun, especially when the skipper shouted to me that something was on the line - the adrenalin rush!  On the last day, after a beautiful breakfast I boarded the boat for my journey home – dolphins even emerged to bid us farewell!  Reflecting on my travels on my return flight, I felt bowled over from the memories of Mozambique!  A special place I hope to return to one day – the perfect destination for honeymooners and romantic travellers!”

Karen Daniels in Botswana, Caprivi Strip and Zambia

"I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Botswana, Caprivi Strip and Zambia and learnt a great deal about this part of Africa. My general feeling was that it is an easily accessible, yet remote safari destination with excellent land and water based activities with the opportunity for some excellent game viewing. I would certainly recommend the Caprivi Strip and the Islands of Africa for anyone seeking an interesting and value for money safari".

Rosie Johnson in Namibia

"Namibia to me is the ultimate safari destination. It has everything you need for a safari of a lifetime, from exciting game drives to adventurous activities such as quad biking in the desert and the amazing scenery like the sand dunes in Sossusvlei. What I loved the most about Namibia was the way it made me feel.  The natural world to me often feels like it's shrinking and it's easy to lose sight of what's important but standing on top of Dune 45 and seeing nothing but sand dunes for miles around me made me remember just how vast the world is and just how small I am! I came away from my travels having met the most wonderful people, sampled the most delicious local cuisine but most of all with the most spectacular memories that will stay with me forever".
