Luangwa Safari House

Round a corner on the edge of South Luangwa National Park, Zambia, and you see it, sitting tall in the trees, inviting and enthralling – the Luangwa Safari House. Sitting on the edge of the Luangwa National Park and Game Reserve, animals abound here. Simply sitting on the deck, surrounded by ebony trees and situated beside the water hole, you enjoy daily encounters with a parade of elephants, wandering over for a splash and drink. But there are more – with less-than-common sub-species of everything from zebra to giraffe, and over 400 species of birds, safaris by vehicle or foot are a natural. Allow expert guides to lead you into the bush. There you’ll experience the real Africa, flirting with Creations most marvelous creatures. Antelope, wildebeast, baboons, velvet monkeys and, of course, lions and cheetahs are abundant. Guides and armed guards make sure you experience the best, without fear. Safaris aren’t the only way to spend your days and nights at Luangwa House. With a private pool and luxury surroundings, it may be tempting to stay in and hibernate the entire week, but resist the temptaton. Village life is close by, and friendly locals welcome visitors to their community, school and shops. Discover Zambia at Kawanza Village and their Culture Day, the Tribal Textiles factory, or the Chipembele Wildlife Education Centre. With child care provided at the House, there’s no reason to rush – kids will be well entertained by Luangwa staff.

If water play is more your style, try boating down the Luangwa River. While water levels vary by rainfall, January to March sees it full and flowing, often pouring into neighboring lagoons. Whether going up-river or exploring lagoons, animal life abounds. The muddy waters are home to croc and hippo, and water fowl are everywhere.
