Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge
Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge is landscaped into the beautiful riverine forest overlooking the Zambezi River floodplain, 80km upstream of Victoria Falls, and close to the Chobe Forest Reserve just over the border in Botswana. The lodge was completely refurbished for its 20th birthday in 2008 and comprises nine individually decorated stone and thatch chalets with en suite bathrooms, and sweeping views of the Zambezi River and the floodplains which attract huge populations of elephant.
There is a swimming pool with sun-deck and poolside bar, along with lounge room, dining area and even a library to brush up on the local flora and fauna. The whole lodge is shaded by ebony trees, and is a lovely place to relax in tranquil surroundings.
Activities from the lodge include morning, evening and night game drives on the private concession area, or explorations from a different perspective by boat and on foot (by prior arrangement). You can take a sundowner cruise on the river or try your luck fishing for tigerfish or tasty bream, while day trips to Victoria Falls are available at an extra charge.
There are large numbers of animals in this area attracted by the waters of the Zambezi and the lush riverine vegetation. You can expect to see large herds of elephant, graceful giraffe, lion, several types of antelope, and a host of smaller creatures such as warthog and jackal. Almost four hundred species of bird are also to be found near Imbabala.
