Sacred Valley of the Incas, Peru
Sol y Luna
In the Sacred Valley, with the Andes Mountains dominating the skyline, the beautiful gardens of Sol y Luna exquisitely complement the hotel’s stone casitas (“little houses”). It’s a truly magical location; the backdrop is enhanced by the orientation of the terraces and the careful planting of indigenous flowers.

Location
The Sacred Valley was the home of the Incas, and when you stay at Sol y Luna you’ll look out on exactly the same views seen by Inca royals and subjects more than 500 years ago. Every casita is positioned to focus on the Andes, so you can breathe in the remarkable landscape from the living area as well as your own terrace. Sol y Luna is on the quiet edge of Urubamba, the hub of the Sacred Valley.
Accommodation
Each of the 43 adobe brick casitas is decorated with Peruvian folk art, which gives it a strong sense of place. You can choose between the Superior, Deluxe, and Premium categories of casita, but all are comfortable, made with natural materials, and naturally are outfitted with all mod cons.
Wander through Sol y Luna’s 25 acres of charming gardens, spotting hummingbirds and butterflies as you go, and you will discover the hotel’s outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, gym and spa (with steam room, sauna and jacuzzi).

There is also a library and a gift shop. As far as eating is concerned, you will have two options; the formal Killa Wasi and the more casual Wayra. Both venues offer seasonal dishes with menus based on local specialities, using produce from the hotel’s orchards and gardens, or bought direct from local farmers.
We love the fact that the hotel supports the Sol y Luna Foundation, a social enterprise that improves the life of disadvantaged local children. It is possible for guests to visit the local school to see how some of the money is making a difference.

Experiences
- Hiking in the Sacred Valley area is not to be missed as you will be able to visit the archaeological sites of Moray, Pisac and Ollantaytambo. For Machu Picchu, the train to Aguas Calientes stops in nearby Urubamba.
- Have you ever wanted to paraglide? There are several nearby locations where a tandem flight can be arranged so you can appreciate the beauty of the landscape from above.
- The hotel’s stables hold 20 majestic Paso Peruano horses. You will be thrilled by an evening performance near the Wayra restaurant.
- An invigorating rafting trip on the Urubamba River will make an evening soak in the hot tub all the more deserved.
