The weather has been at its hottest at Busanga with some cloudy afternoons and a few rainy days – much to the delight of the animals. The rains have settled the dust and allowed for some beautiful sunsets. Many of the antelope species have started giving birth – creating a flurry of excitement amongst the hungry predators. The most notable sightings have been of the regions “swamp lions” – a pride that has adapted to the aquatic environment and developed superb tree climbing abilities. Many of these lions have been seen around the camp and have been heard roaring at night.
The Busanga region has an incredible diversity of vegetation which attracts a good variety of animal and bird species – especially the big cats. There have been plenty of sightings of cheetah of late and two brothers have settled into the area surrounding the camp. The dry areas of the plains are highly conducive to the hunting techniques of cheetah and the huge herds of antelope have provided these two brothers will plenty of opportunity to feed. The Busanga region is also home to a good population of indigenous red lechwe.
Busanga Bush Camp is a luxury camp built within a seasonal grassy floodplain in the heart of the Busanga plains. The camp has been built on an island and is shaded by a grove of sycamore trees. The camp can accommodate eight guests in four luxury tents and has a lounge and bar area and a dining area that lies beneath a huge tree – lit by an overhanging chandelier. The activities at Busanga Bush Camp include day and night game drives and walking safaris.

There is a world of difference between one of our tailormade safaris and most package holidays printed in a brochure. Package holidays are usually designed to be as cheap as possible and of course involve large numbers of people doing the same thing. Our safaris use small, more exclusive and remote camps usually with guests flying in, and often virtually everything is included in the price. The experience is completely different.
Many of these small lodges and camps have broadly similar prices, and it is possible to arrange a superb safari holiday for between £6,000 to £10,000 per person ($8,000 – $13,000) season dependant, all inclusive. Realistically it is difficult to reduce that figure, and by including Botswana in peak season, chartering a private plane, disappearing to some magical desert island, or flying at the front of the plane it’s easy to substantially increase that figure!
